Welcome!
We are thrilled to start our journey working with today’s emerging global public health professionals as the implementers of the PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program . The Public Health Institute (PHI) has an extensive history of coordinating global and public health fellowship programs, and has an established relationship with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from working together on various other activities. We come to this project familiar with what lies ahead, and we are committed to bringing the same level of dedication and care that has ensured the success of our other programs.
In this latest endeavor, we are partnering the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) to support recent global public health graduates in developing the technical skills needed to respond to today’s public health needs and challenges. With a more interconnected world and increasing challenge in preventing and treating infectious disease, there is a growing need for well-educated public health professionals with practical experience and a global skillset. With our specialized support, PHI/CDC Global Health Fellows will receive mentoring and guidance early in their careers so that they will grow as professionals and contribute to a stronger global public health workforce.
At this early stage for the PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program, we are lucky to already work with a talented cadre of fellows with promising futures. Our current fellows join us from some of the best CEPH accredited public health schools and programs in the US to work across six technical areas – epidemiology, HIV prevention, monitoring and evaluation, strategic information, program management, and surveillance. They are placed in 16 countries across four continents and have many opportunities to train and network with global health professionals around the world. Fellows are carefully matched with a CDC mentor and have access to a wealth of technical knowledge and wisdom through their mentors, leading CDC experts with years of experience and the training to guide fellows in their professional development. From the CDC headquarters to field monitoring trips, our fellows are highly capable professionals who are confident in their ability to contribute to solutions to real-world challenges. We look forward to what this year holds in store for them as they grow and accomplish great things.
We invite you to join us on our journey of supporting our highly skilled fellows and helping them grow into tomorrow’s leaders in the global health field. Sincerely,
