Amadu Ndiaye, MPH, is a current PHI/CDC Global Health HIV Surveillance Fellow in the Division of Global HIV & TB in Atlanta, GA. Amadu received his MPH from UNC Chapel Hill in 2020. He has worked as a government contractor with the CDC beginning in 2014, as a lab technician and then moved on to work as a microbiologist in the Serology Lab in the Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria (DPDM). In this position he gained proficiency and performed ELISA and Western Blot diagnostic testing techniques for parasitic testing. Additionally, he provided technical guidance to domestic and international partners on analysis and verification/overview of official diagnostic result reports. He served as the point of contact for health programs and scientific studies being conducted regarding Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and other infectious or parasitic diseases, while also providing comprehensive analytic reports regarding diagnostic results to domestic and international partners. He went on to work as a microbiologist in the morphology lab in DPDM, where he worked to improve the data management capacity by building a secure database for research and diagnostic specimens. In 2019 he conducted research in Senegal, West Africa on the incidence of Malaria within nomadic populations. He collaborated with the country’s Ministry of Health where he visited health post in various regions and reviewed several different databases from the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP). As a result of the research conducted, best practices were suggested to maximize the control efforts of the NMCP. In his most recent position, he worked as a public health advisor in the SFO International Airport where are he performed screening, conducted verbal interviews and made visual observations of passengers from international flights. He provided consultation support services on the medical, epidemiologic and prevention aspects of infectious diseases, specifically COVID-19.
