Leah Goeke, MPH, is a PHI/CDC Global Health Strategic Information Fellow with CDC Tanzania. In her role as a Strategic Information and Surveillance fellow since 2018, Leah has primarily supported the planning and implementation of recency surveillance in Tanzania through collaboration with multi-lateral stakeholders within the Ministry of Health and USG. She coordinated the development of the recency module within the facility & national database structure, multiple trainings and the reactivation strategy to resume activities that have been paused due to COVID-19. Leah also expanded her technical skills in data analysis and visualization by carrying out routine assessments of monthly PEPFAR data to monitor implementing partner performance. She received her MPH in Epidemiology & Global Health Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. Leah is grateful for the opportunity to have worked in beautiful Tanzania for 3 years and her friendships with her CDC-TZ colleagues, who have taught her invaluable lessons and fostered her professional development.

The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program is implemented for CDC by the Public Health Institute and its partner Consortium of Universities for Global Health.
